We used to build cardboard ships in the backyard
Life was simple in the shelter of your mother's arms
But things they complicate, it gets hard to navigate
I'm still learning how to stand up straight

I take it day by day, day by day
Making my own way, day by day

We used to walk downtown to see what trouble we could find
Life was different then, we had a rebel state of mind
But things, they escalate, it gets hard to relate
